Mechanical weather instruments made in Germany. With more than 1,000 weather and measuring instruments in its catalogue, TFA Dostmann GmbH & Co. KG is one of the leading names in the industry in Europe. Since 1964 this family-owned company has produced meteorological instruments at its headquarters in Wertheim am Main.
TFA still manufactures its own mechanical thermometers, barometers, hygrometers and compasses in Germany rather than buying them in — which is why a TFA barometer is a real aneroid movement in solid oak or walnut, not a printed dial. Alongside the traditional range sit digital thermo-hygrometers, wireless rain gauges, forecast stations, CO2 monitors and data loggers.
Traditional barometers made in Germany
The heart of the TFA range. Banjo barometers in solid oak, walnut and mahogany from 39cm to 50cm, wall barometers from a 13.5cm oak up to a 38.5cm frosted glass panel, brass and chrome Sputnik designs, a natural slate version, and combination banjo barometers with a clock. For outdoors there are weatherproof metal barometers such as the 22cm metal and outdoor oak models. If you would like to build one yourself, the Make Your Own Barometer kit supplies the movement and dial.
Thermometers and thermo-hygrometers
TFA's digital thermometers are the practical end of the range. The Digital Min/Max Thermometer has a large display and a cabled outdoor probe. The DOUBLE-CHECK monitors two wireless outdoor points at once. The TERRACHECK and Klima-Guard add humidity for greenhouses and damp-prone rooms, and the large-display thermo-hygrometer is easy to read across a room. For pools and ponds, the PALMA and Venice send water temperature indoors wirelessly. There is even a hamster cage thermometer.
Rain gauges, analogue and wireless
The TFA 47.1000 analogue rain gauge and the Black Point 47-1008W need no power at all. If you would rather read rainfall from indoors, the Drop 47.3005.01, 47.3006.01 and Monsun 47.3003 pair a wireless collector with an indoor display. Replacement rain sensors are available for 30.3252.01, 30.3233.01 and 30-3225-10.
Wireless forecast stations
The HORIZON 35.1155 and LIFE 35.1153.02 combine a forecast, barometric trend and indoor/outdoor readings in a compact display; View 35.1142.01 is the slim-line version, and Rain Pro 35.1160.01 adds a rain gauge. For an analogue look outdoors, the metal analogue outdoor weather station combines barometer, thermometer and hygrometer in one dial.
Data logging and air quality
The KlimaLogg Pro is the one to know: a thermo-hygrometer that logs temperature and humidity from up to eight wireless sensors and exports to a PC — widely used for building surveys, museums, storage and damp investigations. The HorseBox logger is a compact version for transport monitoring. For indoor air, the AIRCO2NTROL Observer and the logging Air CO2ntrol 5000 measure carbon dioxide alongside temperature and humidity.
Replacement TFA sensors
Most TFA display units outlive their outdoor sensor, and the sensor is usually all you need. We stock the common transmitters, including 30.3241.02, 30.3242, 30.3249.02, 30.3225.10, 30.3144-IT, 30.3208.02-IT and 30.3163. A protective cover or a solar-fan radiation shield will keep readings honest and extend sensor life. Check the model number printed on the back of your existing sensor, or call us and we will identify it.
