Why these models sell
Popularity is a useful signal in this category because weather instruments are bought once and kept for years. The models that stay on this page are the ones that come back as repeat recommendations rather than the ones with the loudest specification sheet.
Three things drive it. Reliability of the outdoor sensor link, because a station that drops out in winter is a station nobody recommends. Readability, because you will glance at the display several times a day for a decade. And honest measurement, because a sensor that over-reads in sunshine turns an interesting instrument into a decoration.
Under £50
The best sellers at this level are indoor displays with one wireless outdoor sensor and a pressure-based forecast. The Technoline WS 9767 combines indoor and outdoor temperature with an alarm clock, and the WS9140 does the same in a clock-first format. For forecasting, the WS 9130 and WS 9132 add barometric pressure and a frost alert, while the WS 9632 Weather Man presents it in a more traditional style. The TFA chrome barometer with temperature and humidity is the consistent analogue best seller. The Technoline WT549 projection alarm clock and the Technoline EA3000 mini anemometer both sell far beyond what their price would suggest.
£50 to £160
This is where measurement gets serious without getting expensive. The Technoline WS 6449 adds a barometric pressure graph, and the WS 9040 pairs a forecast station with a barometer. The ACCUR8 YD8230A brings MSF radio-controlled time, a pressure graph and sunrise and sunset times, and the YD8266W ships with three wireless sensors for monitoring several rooms or outbuildings at once.
For rainfall, the TFA Monsun 47.3003 wireless rain gauge with outdoor temperature and rain alerts is the most popular standalone gauge we sell. Stepping up to full measurement, the Technoline WS 1700 offers programmable weather alerts, and the ACCUR8 DWS5100 5-in-1 and DWS7100 7-in-1 are the best-value solar-powered Wi-Fi stations in the range.
Handheld and professional
The Kestrel range dominates handheld sales. The Kestrel 1000 measures wind alone, the Kestrel 2000 adds temperature, and the Kestrel 3500 covers wind, temperature, humidity and pressure in a pocket instrument that will take being dropped.
At the top of the range, Davis stations sell steadily to customers who intend to install once. The Vantage Vue with WeatherLink Console is the most popular entry point, and the Vantage Vue sensors with WeatherLink Live bundle suits anyone who wants their data online rather than on a console. For separated sensors, the Vantage Pro2 with standard radiation shield and the Vantage Pro2 sensor suite with WeatherLink Live are the usual choices.
