Outdoor barometers are built to live outside. Sealed cases and weatherproof dials cope with rain, frost and direct sun, so you can mount one on a garden wall, fence, shed, greenhouse or porch and leave it there year round.
Most are supplied as a matched set — barometer, thermometer and hygrometer — giving you atmospheric pressure, outdoor temperature and relative humidity in a single glance. Others come as individual dials you can arrange to suit the space.

Where to mount an outdoor barometer
Choose a shaded spot if you can, ideally on a north-facing wall or under an eave, porch roof or overhang. Direct sunlight will push a thermometer reading several degrees above true air temperature, and shade also protects the case and dial glass, giving the instrument a much longer life.
Fix to a solid wall or a stout fence post rather than a thin panel that flexes in the wind, and leave clear space around the case so the dials read easily from a distance.
Garden barometer and thermometer sets
The most popular choice is a matched three-dial set giving pressure, temperature and humidity together. The 28.2cm silver set and its blue and silver version are typical, as are the blue, white and silver design and the 20-2033 outdoor set.
If you would rather have a single clear pressure dial, the 20-2045 outdoor barometer at £41.95 is the compact option and the outdoor weather station barometer at £70.99 the larger one.
What each dial tells you
The barometer shows atmospheric pressure. Set the adjustable pointer against the needle, then check back a few hours later — needle rising above the pointer suggests improving weather, falling below it suggests unsettled or wet conditions on the way. The thermometer gives current outdoor temperature. The hygrometer shows relative humidity, useful for judging frost risk, drying conditions and when to ventilate a greenhouse.
Weatherproof, not indestructible
These instruments are sealed against rain and designed for permanent outdoor use in the British climate. They are not intended to be submerged or jet-washed. An occasional wipe of the dial face keeps the glass clear for years.
Garden, greenhouse and allotment use
A wall-mounted set beside a greenhouse or potting shed is the simplest way to track conditions at plant level. Sizes
Compact dials from around 20cm suit a porch, doorway or small patio. Mid-size designs such as the 35cm silver barometer and the 22.5cm design cover most garden walls. Larger designs from 35cm upwards, including the 20-2027-60 barometer and the timber-framed oak 20-1079-01, read clearly from across a garden or driveway. Measure your wall first and allow clear space around the case.
