FCC Precision built marine-quality barometers, tide clocks and weather instruments in Cornwall for more than 35 years, with a reputation for the highest quality instruments for the boat and the home. Each instrument was assembled by hand in England.
Please note: FCC instruments are not currently in production. What you see on this page is our remaining stock — once it is gone we cannot reorder. If you need a barometer and the model you wanted has sold out, the alternatives below are the closest equivalents we can supply.
Remaining FCC stock
Two instruments remain available. The FCC Brass Barometer mounted on mahogany is a 17cm aneroid barometer on a solid mahogany back — a traditional wall barometer of the kind FCC was known for. The FCC Cast Brass Bulkhead Tide Clock is a marine-quality cast brass tide clock showing the state of the tide at a glance, built to survive a cockpit or a coastal porch.
Why FCC instruments were sought after
FCC made marine instruments to a genuine marine standard: cast brass rather than plated pot metal, real aneroid movements, and finishing done by hand in Cornwall. That is also why they were never cheap and why remaining stock moves quickly.
If the model you wanted has gone
For traditional barometers, TFA Dostmann is the closest we stock — mechanical aneroid movements made in Germany, in solid oak, walnut and mahogany, from small wall barometers up to 50cm banjo barometers with clocks. Our traditional weather instruments range brings together barometers, wall thermometers and analogue rain gauges, and clocks and time covers radio-controlled and decorative clocks. If you specifically need a tide clock or a marine barometer and cannot find one here, call us — we can sometimes source individual instruments that are not listed.
Servicing an existing FCC instrument
If you already own an FCC barometer that has stopped reading accurately, an aneroid movement can often be recalibrated rather than replaced. Call 01243 558280 and describe the fault, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing.
