Which WatchDog station do you need?
The range is organised by what you need to measure. The WatchDog 3210 is a frost and temperature alert station. The 3220 adds rain and humidity. The 3240 is a general-purpose weather station, and the 3250 brings evapotranspiration into that class. Step up to the 3540 series for a full weather station with wind, available as WiFi, direct-connect and radio versions. The 3550 series is the ET specialist — also in WiFi, direct and radio forms — and is the model to choose if irrigation scheduling is the point of the exercise.
Plant growth stations
The WatchDog 3230 family is designed for greenhouses, tunnels and plant research: temperature, humidity, light and growing degree days at canopy level. Choose the 3230WF WiFi model for connected sites, the 3230WFP Pro or 3230MEP Pro for full-spectrum light measurement, and the aspirated 3230WFA or 3230MEA where accurate temperature under strong light is critical.
Sensors and rain measurement
Stations can be extended with the WatchDog ultrasonic wind sensor, which has no moving parts to wear out, and the WatchDog 1120 data-logging rain gauge works as a standalone rainfall record anywhere on a site.
Getting the data off the station
Three routes. SpecConnect is the cloud platform — readings, graphs, exports and SMS and email alerts to up to four phones, with a Pro subscription for advanced tools and FieldScout Pro for multi-device operations. Note that a setup fee applies per device. For local, offline working, SpecWare 10 Basic and SpecWare 10 Pro run on a PC, with the WatchDog Data Shuttle to collect readings in the field or a 23m direct connection cable for fixed installations.
Connectivity across a large site
Where a station is out of WiFi range, the DataScout LTE-M cellular modem gives it a global mobile connection, the DataScout 140 solar WiFi modem is a self-powered alternative, and the short-range modem pair bridges a station to a nearby building.
