Which Vantage Vue should I buy?

Three options, and the difference is how you see the data. The 6250UK is the classic package — outdoor sensor suite plus the standard Vue console. The 6242UK pairs the sensor suite with the WeatherLink Console, a colour touchscreen that uploads straight to weatherlink.com over Wi-Fi with no data logger needed. The 6110 WeatherLink Live bundle has no display at all: the sensor suite plus a WeatherLink Live bridge, so everything lives in the app and online. If you want a screen in the kitchen, choose the 6250 or 6242. If you only ever look at your phone, choose the 6110.

    What makes it accurate

A stainless steel wind cup bearing, a rain collector calibrated to 0.2mm, readings updated every 2.5 seconds, and a transmission range up to 300m line of sight. The sensor suite is solar powered with a lithium battery backup, so it keeps reporting through the night and through winter.

    Vantage Vue or Vantage Pro2?

The Vue is one integrated unit — quicker to install, less to go wrong, and considerably cheaper. The Vantage Pro2 separates the anemometer from the rain and temperature sensors so each can be sited correctly, offers fan-aspirated radiation shielding for better accuracy in direct sun, and accepts the full Davis sensor range including soil moisture, leaf wetness, UV and solar radiation. For a home or garden the Vue is the right station. For a farm, vineyard, business or research use, choose the Pro2.

    Siting it properly

Most disappointing readings come from siting, not the station. The anemometer wants to be as high and as clear of buildings as possible; the rain collector wants to be level and away from overhang. Mounting pole kits and EZ-Mount tripods are available if the supplied hardware is not enough for your position.

    Long-term support and spares

The Vue is built to stay outdoors for years, and when a part does wear we stock it — wind cups, the wind vane 7345-297, the wind speed cartridge, the rain mechanism, harness boards and the Complete Tune Up Kit. As an authorised Davis service centre we repair these in the UK rather than sending them back to the States, so a worn station is a cheap fix rather than a replacement. Browse all Davis spare parts.
