Technoline WS 9040 Weather Forecast Station & Barometer

Works well, information on station lets me prepare my clothing for cycling and general use.

Works OK but was very expensive for what it is found a similar item on eBay brand new for a fraction of the price. Would not buy another expensive model now that I have found a product that is every bit as good for just a few £.

Purchased to replace a 21yo Oregon Scientific Weather Station. which had a failed transmitter and unable to replace.

Also only wanted a battery unit.

For a much newer weather station designed in Germany(?) to say I'm disappointed in the Technoline WS9040 is an understatement.

1. Not intuitive to set up / use - to get it working the supplied guidance book is necessary but not easy to follow.

2. Unit appears to be unstable in use. Time is frequently lost and needs to be reset to BST each time.

3. Compared to Met Centre data (from phone), the barometer readings are incorrect. The Oregon unit was much better in this respect.

4. No illumination light is a real pain (and demonstrates how poorly designed this unit is).

5. Barometer scrolling is a really annoying feature (other reviewers state this also). And it's not mentioned in the Weather Shop info.

Why not just give readout values.

6. Contacted Weather Shop to discuss performance and essentially given the Brush Off.

Conclusion:

I cannot recommend this weather station as a useful unit (even if for home interest use only).

All good but annoyingly clock is an hour fast as it does not automatically tune to winter time

This one, a replacement, suffers from the same defect as the first, in that the barometer history never stops flashing. Very, very disappointing.

One of the easiest weather machines to install, just put the batteries in and everthing started working,worked through the settings and weather machine was working instantly.

Barometric trace would not settle but kept permanently scrolling.

I am very pleased with this purchase. The Technoline is first class, accurate, gives you all the information you need. Excellent value for money.

Very good. Clear and easy to use.

Bought to replace a WS9032e as the outdoor sensor had failed and couldn't source a replacement. New model has the same screen so thought it would be pretty much identical. This model took three nights to 'see' the German time signal (old model was much better) and it took six resets for it to see the external sensor (never a problem on battery change with the old model). Even then the set button was stuck (eventually worked it loose) and the hygrometer on the external sensor has stayed at c.14% since power up so basically doesn't work (photo shows the internal and external sensor next to each other with completely different humidities)

So I would steer clear if I were you......

This weather station would be perfectly acceptable except that it has a faulty mimimum/maximum external temperature recording function - at least once a month it shows a maximum recorded temperature of 35.8 regardless of the actual maximum. This is not acceptable for record keeping.

The replacement unit has proved to be as erratic as the previous one. For long periods the bottom line display of outside information just disappears.

Thus I think the only sulution is to return the unit to you for a refund. Please send the return information again.

I'm disappointed that this is the outcome.

Had an oregon thermo hygrometer for many years, replacing sensor a couple of times.

When new sensor was unavailable I began searching for a replacement. The technoline was one of a few possibilities I looked at, eventually choosing it mainly due to the reviews.

Had a similar product for years that went bad and in looking for a replacement couldn't find one in the United States so finally found it at The Weather Shop in the UK. Couldn't be happier. Wanted a weather station that wasn't in color and with the time at the top with both indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity. PERFECT!

Bought this as a replacement for another brand that had failed. So far it seems to meet our requirements and was easy to set up. Appears to be accurate, easy to read and being battery operated does not need a trailing lead.

generally a first class bit of apparatus. I would have liked to have a history of the overnight temperature incorporated but all the other features seem to be accurate, save for the 'forecast' showing the sun motiff when it rains all day and evening.

Clear, and easy to read. Pity it doesn't show GMT. Have not tried to adjust the clock at this stage.

The advertised 100-meter workable range of the sensor is somewhat exaggerated. At approximately 90 meters and on a fine day with no rain the signal reaches the base station but atmospheric conditions can hinder operation - the signal comes and goes. I have another sensor closer to the house which operates perfectly.

Easy to set up with no trailing aerial wires. Comprehensive instruction booklet with handy hints and technical details. Pleasantly surprised to find it's made in Germany.

It works very well but has reverted to GMT when clocks changed on Saturday night.

This is a replacement for the same model. The station stopped picking up the signal, so we were a little disappointed, but my husband loves it, so we had to buy another. Unfortunately the new outdoor sensor doesn't show the outdoor temperature, but overall we are quite happy with this device. Just hope it lasts a bit longer than the previous one!

Works well. Easy to set up. Simple clean lines. Gives us the information we want.

This item was purchased as a replacement for a WS-9032IT because the outside sensor stopped working after the recent cold weather.

The WS-9040IT is a slim line version of the WS-9032IT with the same size screen and some of the previous functions plus a couple of different functions.

The WS-9040IT is a much more convenient item presented in a slim line case and I never actually used the alarm and snooze function on the WS-9032IT so it is not missed.

The instruction booklet is not all that good but adequate as I had no trouble setting up the item.
