The WS9050 is the closest you can get to a complete weather station without having wind and rain sensors. Gives you indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity along with pressure reading and a barograph giving you the history for the past 24 hours.


The outdoor frost alert will help ensure you don't get caught out by a cold snap.

The Technoline WS9050 is a modern-looking forecast station that comes about as close to a full weather station as possible without wind and rain sensors. It displays indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity together with barometric pressure and a 24-hour pressure barograph, so you can see how conditions are changing. An outdoor frost alert helps make sure a cold snap doesn't catch you out, and features such as a comfort-level indicator, moon phase, DCF radio-controlled clock and two daily alarms add everyday convenience. It includes one TX205TH wireless sensor and can take up to two more, for example to monitor children's bedrooms.

Disappointing display clarity

Bought this as a previous coloured, illuminated mains powered station was poorly illuminated and difficult to read in sunlight. This one, despite being just black/white LCD is similarly disappointing to see in sunlight.

WS 9050 Technoline Weather Forecast Station and Barometer

This is a very fine piece of equipment. Except for the Frankfurt VLF radion link (which I am happy to leave telling Central European time) it set itself up here in eastern England within minutes of installing the batteries. The same is true of the weatherproof external tenperature and humidity sensor. Both technically and aesthetically these are all I would expect from the German tradition design and manufacture. It is good to read that it comes from the former DDR too.

Good value but some irritating niggles

I bought this instrument to monitor the temperature in 3 places - in our living room, outside, and in the greenhouse. Also to get some basic weather-forecasting information. It does all this very well. I have 4 reservations. (i) The instructions are very hard to follow and I gave up, settling for the basic set-up, of cycling readings between the 3 remote sensors. It will do much more than this but I don't have the time or energy to find out how. (ii) I am a bit disappointed with the range. My greenhouse is 20m from the instrument, in direct line of sight, and with only 2 panes of glass in the way. Nevertheless, reception is very intermittent. The other 2 sensors are fine, even with stone house-walls in the way. I tried swapping the sensors around, but no improvement. (iii) The backlight stays on for far too short a time. (iv) The control buttons are on the back and make setting up a cumbersome business. Much better if they were on the front, even if it meant the instrument had to be larger.

But it is doing what I wanted it to do and I am very happy with it overall. One day I will try to decipher enough of the instructions to set a temperature alarm for the greenhouse!

Great once you’ve got it set up

This is a useful piece of equipment but I found the instructions ( provided in several languages ) a bit difficult to follow to begin with - particularly the manual set up section. The instructions seemed fine but the set up never fully engaged and as a UK user the time kept shifting back to German time. After several re reads and resets it finally does seem to have connected to the UK time zone and hopefully it will stay with that connection. ☀️

I set the clock to the right time , then after a couple hours it changes to the time being transmitted over air ways!

Reading the display is poor contrast.
