LED Vs Traditional
Sadly using the wattage of a bulb, as an indicator for how bright a bulb will be, is a thing of the past. LED bulbs now all come with a “lumen” level and this determines how bright an LED bulb will be.
For example, you can buy many 5-watt LED bulbs now that all have a different lumens output, so we cannot now assume they will all be the same brightness, just because they are all 5-watts.
The “lumen” output can be found on all our bulbs and to help you further, we also have a “equivalent to” value, to give you an idea on how bright the bulb is, compared to a traditional light bulb.
Old styles LED’s used to be very dim and were not very popular with commercial or domestic customers. However over the last few years, manufacturers have now been able to achieve a much better level of brightness and are now an excellent alternative to a costly incandescent or halogen bulb.
